LANDER CITY, CLARK COUNTY — Tonight after a fierce senate election that will decide the fate of how this Clark Summer will go, 4 of the 9 seats tonight were from independent candidates, forming a de-facto majority as the largest sitting party (Mayflower Conservatives) only hold 4 seats.
In a way, this is a good thing because it means regardless of who proposes the bill, other parties will have to negotiate either amongst themselves or battle for independent seats to flip during the course of the senate session as has happened in previous senates.
We did some quick street-interviews on the Clark County Discord server. Here’s what people had to say:
“Nobody stays independent” said d_eadend38. “Independent senators always get bought by other parties.”
“I think it doesn’t really matter. Here, a lot of people only care about what they want and have no views they are loyal to that fit within a party. [sic] Most parties dont even have clear views anyways, so independent or not, it doesn’t matter.” – kill7he_opps
It seems like these new independent senators will soon have to make a choice: stand alone as an independent, or become another lackey in a larger political party.
