Governor Orangebear22, who was last seen boarding Air India for his weekly trip to his people, has ceased all communications to his constituents and cabinet. Lieutenant Governor DevelopingNublets has assumed and is carrying out the duties of the Governor’s Office. Community Administrators and other parties are searching for any proof of life.

Verified inside sources report that the last communication from the Governor was within a private group chat on October 4th, 10:03AM EST. Prior to this, there was no indication of any leave of absence planned.

72 hours later on October 7th, 10:34PM EST, Lieutenant Governor DevelopingNublets announced he is assuming the role of Acting Governor. The current statutory and constitutional mechanics, while acknowledging the ability for the Lt. Gov to act as Governor, does not establish any clear mechanisms to do such.

DevelopingNublets, using discretion and the urgency of the situation, decided that 72 hours was a appropriate amount of time without communication to consider the Governor being “[temporarily absent].” This timeframe accounted for the 48 hours it typically takes a letter to travel from India, plus an additional 24 hours as a precaution. This choice sets a new and important precedent within the State.
